Aker Solutions says its consultancy arm Entr and subsidiary Unitech Power Systems have been awarded a contract by Nadara to support electrical infrastructure studies for the proposed 1.8 GW Bellrock Offshore Wind Farm off Aberdeenshire. The companies will assess transmission configurations, inter-array and export cables, substations, grid integration, costs and programme considerations to refine the project?s future electrical concept. Aker Solutions says the work is intended to reduce risk ahead of future consenting, procurement and investment decisions for the floating-wind project. The update is a source-owned example of early-stage offshore wind transmission design moving forward in the UK.
