In a European Parliament speech, the Commission President cited Bornholm Energy Island as the first agreed European energy highway, connecting Baltic offshore wind to Denmark and Germany and turning national offshore wind into a shared European energy resource.

The European Commission said Germany and Denmark agreed joint development of Bornholm Energy Island, a first Energy Highways project that will link 3 GW of Baltic offshore wind generation to both national grids.
