Flotation Energy says White Cross has joined a Celtic Sea Forum bringing together floating offshore wind developers and regional partners. The group will coordinate learning from test projects, port and skills investment, supply-chain development, community value and environmental work ahead of large-scale Round 5 construction in the mid-2030s.

Floating offshore wind developers have formed the Celtic Sea Forum to coordinate early test and demonstration projects with the larger Leasing Round 5 programme. Chaired by The Crown Estate with support from Marine Energy Wales and Regen, the group will focus on project learning, ports, skills, regional supply chains, coastal communities and environmental outcomes.

The UK's eighth Contracts for Difference allocation round will use five technology pots, retain round-seven strike prices and require signed Gate 2 grid-connection agreements. ORE Catapult identified 20 eligible offshore-wind projects totalling 17.1 GW and highlighted separate support routes for solar, onshore wind, floating wind and emerging technologies.
