Bulgaria operates within the interconnected European market. ESO is the transmission system operator, EWRC is the national energy regulator and IBEX operates the power exchange.
Grid context
ESO manages transmission connections for generation. Bulgaria has a Black Sea coast, but any offshore connection would currently require project-specific planning because no operating offshore-wind sector exists.
