Electricity system
Iceland has an isolated electricity system with no international interconnector. Landsnet operates the transmission network; the Environment and Energy Agency assumed energy-regulatory and resource-administration functions in 2025.
Grid context
Landsnet manages domestic transmission connections. With no international interconnector, any major new generation must be integrated against Icelandic demand, storage and industrial consumption.
