Electricity system
Jamaica Public Service operates the national transmission and distribution system and most utility generation under licence. Independent generators sell into the grid, the Office of Utilities Regulation regulates the sector, and the Generation Procurement Entity conducts generation procurement.
Grid context
Jamaica operates an island electricity system without international interconnection. The mapped package covers every utility-scale wind and solar plant with positive generation in the regulator's 2023 plant table: four wind projects and two solar projects totalling 156 MW.
