KEGOC is Kazakhstan's system operator and operates the national power grid within the country's unified power system. The Ministry of Energy sets sector policy, while the Committee for Regulation of Natural Monopolies regulates transmission and other monopoly tariffs.
Large generators connect to KEGOC's national power grid, while regional electricity network companies operate lower-voltage transmission and distribution systems. Kazakhstan's unified system operates in parallel with neighbouring power systems including Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
