Electricity system
Electricity Generation Company Malawi operates the main state-owned generation fleet. Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi procures power as single buyer and operates transmission and distribution, while the Ministry of Energy sets national policy.
Grid context
Malawi's national grid is interconnected regionally and is expanding solar and storage to reduce its exposure to hydrological variability. The mapped package is effectively complete for operating grid hydro and complete for commercial grid solar and battery storage.
