Electricity system

Malaysia has three principal electricity systems: TNB serves Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah Electricity serves Sabah and Sarawak Energy serves Sarawak. The Energy Commission regulates Peninsular Malaysia, while Sabah and Sarawak have their own state arrangements.

Grid context

Generators connect within the Peninsular, Sabah or Sarawak networks under the relevant utility and regulator. The largest mapped hydropower stations are split between TNB's peninsula portfolio and Sarawak's major river schemes, with Tenom Pangi serving Sabah.
