Electricity system
NamPower is the principal national generator and transmission-system operator. Regional electricity distributors serve customers, while the Electricity Control Board regulates licences, tariffs and sector performance and the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy sets policy.
Grid context
Namibia is interconnected with the Southern African Power Pool and supplements domestic generation with regional imports. The mapped package covers the complete operating wind fleet and 98.86% of national renewable-hydropower capacity.
