Electricity system
PNG Power operates the main Port Moresby, Ramu and Gazelle systems and numerous smaller centres. Difficult terrain, isolated demand centres and limited transmission mean the country does not operate as one fully interconnected national grid.
Grid context
The seven mapped conventional-hydropower projects cover 94.46% of the reconciled 252.8 MW official operating grid-hydro denominator. Warangoi, Divune and Tari, totalling 14 MW, are withheld because no defensible project-specific point was established.
