Electricity system
Tanzania Electric Supply Company is the principal vertically integrated electricity utility and operates the main grid, generation and much of distribution. EWURA regulates electricity licences, tariffs and sector performance, while private generators supply power under regulated arrangements.
Grid context
Large generators connect to TANESCO's main transmission grid. The mapped package covers every operational main-grid hydropower plant of at least 20 MW and represents 99.0% of the regulator's reported main-grid hydropower capacity.
