Electricity system
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company operates the high-voltage transmission grid and single-buyer functions, while the Electricity Regulatory Authority regulates licences and tariffs. Uganda Electricity Distribution Company operates the principal distribution network following the end of the Umeme concession.
Grid context
Grid generators connect through UETCL or the relevant distribution network under ERA licences. The mapped package covers every current grid-connected plant with at least 1 MW of solar capacity in ERA's September 2025 generation workbook.
